Freedom’s Last Stand
Confederates and the Tribulation

The story you are about to read is quite naturally fiction; it is based upon the Scriptural definition of the Rapture of the Church, and at least a portion of the seven years that follow.  There shall be a time of tribulation such has never been witnessed upon the earth, no, and never shall be again.  The Beast, known as the 'man of perdition', shall be reveled and will rule with an iron fist!  While worldwide revivals that had inspired the Confederate Cause just prior to the liberation, and brought about a Christian Society, it did not necessarily mean those same masses, would be taken in the Rapture.

The full impact of the ‘Beast of Revelation’ cannot be understood, without consulting a number of verses in the Holy Scripture, the Books of John 2:19–21, Matthew 24:1-2, Deuteronomy 4:15-40, Luke 19:42-44, Daniel 9:27, 11:31 and 12:11, Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14 and Revelation 13:11-18.  "... Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred three score and six." Revelation 13:11-18.

Since the fall of the Roman Empire around 432 A.D. there have been those who have strived to put the old empire back together again, and have failed, that is until the European Union was created after the Second World War.  The European Union has become a type of launching pad, from which the old Roman Empire will be reborn, in the modern context of our times.
.
This 'Rebirth of the Roman Empire' will become the power base for the only true worldwide 'absolute dictator', to ever exist upon this earth, who himself will demand to be worshipped as both god and messiah.  The Beast of Revelation may, once he is revealed, be known by any number of political titles; President, Prime Minister or some other, but count on it, he will come!  This story touches upon the question, what will happen to those Confederates left behind, to face the tribulation and the Beast of the Revelation.
.

The Rapture of the Church could take place at anytime,
which would then be followed by the seven years of the Great
Tribulation; therefore while this story is described as taking
place in the year 2055, there is no intent here at date setting.
.

“The Look Back”

.
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angles of heaven but my Father only. {Matthew 24:36}.  In light of this verse it is emphasized that the following is a fictional story, and no attempt is being made to predict the year or date wherein the Rapture of the Church will take place or of the seven years of Tribulation.  The opinion of this writer is that may likely be sooner then the dates given in the story rather then later, given the opening of Biblical Prophesies!

 .

By George McCullum III

It is now May of the year 2058, three years since the big event that turned the world we once knew, upside down, and I am alone in my home thinking back upon all that went before, all that once was.  It began on a beautiful Monday 10 May 2055, 40 years since the liberation of our most beloved country, the Confederate States of America!  The Confederacy was at that time four years into the seventh Presidential Administration since the liberation, and the eighth Administration since the formal surrender of our Confederate Armies on 9 April 1865, more then 190 years earlier.  My wife Janice and myself decided to travel to Richmond Virginia from our home in Northwest Florida, so as to attend the commemoration, not only of the Confederate liberation itself, but also in remembrance of General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, who died on this same date in 1863, of wounds suffered at the Battle of Chancellorsville.

.

We had left home on Friday three days before and the weather being exceedingly pleasant, we decided to stop at a Botanical Gardens as well as an historic site along the way, thereby arriving in Richmond on Sunday evening.  Janice and I registered at a local motel then went out for an evening meal before turning in for the night.  I had chosen to watch the news while Janice went about her personal business, however the news was not good!  The Arab nations had surrounded tiny Israel, threatening to sweep the Jews into the sea, if their demands were not met and soon.  Russia had built up its Armed Forces and now positioned a number of divisions to the east along the Iraq, Iran, as well as the Afghanistan borders.  Waiting like unto a ‘bird of pray’ ready to pounce upon its intended target!

.

It didn’t take a military tactician to understand that the Muslim and Russian forces had previously, behind the scenes, formed an alliance, and given the opportunity; they would come down upon Israel.  Their armies would likely enter the region from the north through the Republic of Georgia, and then down an old ancient highway that runs through the Caucuses Mountains of Turkey.  Then via a second front, in combination with their Muslim Allies they will move through Iraq and Syria!  As I watched, it became all too obvious; these conditions are playing directly into the prophecies regarding the coming Rapture of the Church, and of the Tribulation.  We had to be very close, I was certain; it could easily take place at any moment!

.

The Confederacy had wisely taken a different course then the former Yankee Empire; for one, Confederates were not the world’s policemen, and had therefore never invaded nations for political gain, nor entered into every backwater war that come down the pike.  Our forces were geared completely towards defense, and had from the outset of the liberation, been divided into a smaller National Force, States Forces and then there were the Militias.  National and State Forces also had troops in reserve!  The Militias were not like unto the pre-liberation variety, but were highly organized within each county, parish and State; they had extensive training, as well as military discipline.  These militia troops also were well equipped, with a high participation rate among the male population!
.

The Confederacy has relied heavily upon teams of not more then a dozen or so men capable of striking anywhere at anytime, irregardless of national borders, and operating at a level beyond the capability of any previously known Special Force Command.  The Confederacy’s defense policy has been to not send an army, in order to achieve that which a few extra-ordinary men could accomplish more effectively.  However our present modern day Confederacy has developed, by the grace of our Lord, into a kind of platform and podium for the spread of the Gospel worldwide.  While at the same time a Christian society has arisen here at home, our history, heritage and culture has been haply taught and practiced throughout our homeland.

.
There have been, since the liberation, parades and celebrations in most of our Confederate cities, towns and villages, to one degree or the other; many also hold picnics in the park, and Southern Ball Dances.  We arrived at the designated place at mid-morning, so as to view the parades down Monument Row.  My wife and I were invited to join the President and First Lady, Daniel and Gabriella Harris, in a booth constructed specifically for a number of listed dignitaries.   Our being invited was not so much due to our personal acquaintance with the President or his lovely wife, but rather because of my grandfather’s involvement, as a founding member of the modern Confederate Cause, which included among other projects, the Confederate Legion and the Gideon Battalion.  The Gideon Battalion having since become the Presidential Security Guard!
.

“The Golden Hours”

.
“Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, the other left.  Two men shall be in the field; the and the other left.”  {Luke 18:35:36}.  “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the last trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” {I Corinthians 15:52}.  “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” {I Thessalonians 4:16-17}.
.
As we sat through the proceedings President Harris turned to me saying; ‘George, your grandfather would have delighted in this spectacle, would he not?’  Indeed Mr. President, I am sure you recall from the archives of that period that he had quite literally dreamed of a spectacle, such as we see before us this day!  I’d like to believe, added the First Lady Gabriella, you men can see past the columns of Confederate Troops, and surely must have noticed the large number of Southern Belles in the parade?  Then Secretary of War Clement Pike broke in; ‘George, here comes your grandfathers own Command, the child of his creation, the Confederate Legion.’
.
Yes, added President Harris, and the Legion have since become not only the centerpiece of our forces, but also exceedingly excellent showmen.  ‘Whatever else they may be, commented the First Lady, they are a handsome lot, and I am sure their families are most proud!’  Nonetheless, finally the parade was ending, so we all stood to our feet, and after a little small talk we were about to turn and exit the booth, when suddenly there was chaos all around us.  People were running about in confusion, numbers of individuals had obviously disappeared, leaving their clothing behind them, to liter the streets.  I looked in every direction; ‘Where is the President and First Lady, Daniel and Gabriella Harris?’
.
The most Honorable Edwin Powell, Speaker of the Confederate House of Representatives looked about himself, obviously they are, among-the-missing.  Vice President Henry Whiting quickly come to the realization as to what had taken place; he turned to his Secretary of War!  ’Call a Cabinet Meeting for this after noon at 2:00 O’clock, and I want the Commander of our General Staff, General Marshall Wallace to be in attendance.  And tell them to make a quick check to see how many of our key personnel are missing, who remains as well as the status of our forces.’  Secretary of State Benjamin Gordon, looking at the Vice President with a shocked look on his face, while cautiously asking, What can I do to help Mr. Vice President?
.
Yes, give me a report on our State Governors, how many are present, how many have disappeared, and let us call the truth by its proper term, we’ve all just born witness to the Rapture of the Church.’  It was Julia, the wife of the Vice President that called attention to another issue, ‘Henry she said, don’t you think you need to call for a meeting with Chief Justice Jeremiah Jefferson?’  Why honey, asked the Vice President?  Well, since President Harris is among-the-missing, then you are the President and need to be sworn into office.  The Vice President looked first at his wife, then at his Attorney General, Nathaniel Tyler, and finally back at his wife, ‘by all means, we’ll take care of it today at1:00 O’clock, just prior to the Cabinet Meeting.
.
All right Mr. President, replied the Attorney General; I’ll make the proper arrangements, if that meets your approval.  The still Vice President glanced at the Attorney General then at his wife Janet, with an almost stunned look, as if the reality had just dawned on him, very slowly he replied, ‘yes, by all means, do so!’  The Vice President froze in place for a moment as he thought within himself, ‘I’ve not only missed the Rapture, but now I bear the heavy burden of the Presidency, please help me O Lord.’  As the crowd began to scatter, each going their own way, the soon to be President Henry Whiting as well as the soon to be First Lady of the Confederacy Julia Whiting, headed by motorcade to the new Whitehouse of the Confederacy.
.
The historic Whitehouse having been restored to its original condition, as it existed during the days of the War for Confederate Independence, when President Jefferson Davis lived at the residence.  Over the span of time that has passed since the liberation, the property was expanded, the historic structure now stood on a fifteen acres lot.  The new Whitehouse however included a Presidential Office and a Cabinet Room, where the President would soon hold his first meeting!  Nonetheless given the recent turn of events he had little desire for lunch, but chose rather to find a quiet place to think, before the swearing in ceremony!
                      .

..A Contrite Repentance
.
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.  {Psalms 51:17}..

President Whiting knew he had but a short space of time wherein he could rally his nation, and secure its citizens against the coming revelation of the beast, he thought of this time as the golden hours.  But how was he to approach such a colossal task?  He knew instinctively the answer lay in a national repentance; otherwise the Confederacy could not stand before the coming onslaught by the Beast of Revelation, who no doubt was soon to be revealed.  He thought to himself, ‘I had always considered myself a Christian, but still, I have missed the Rapture of the Church.  No doubt all or nearly all of our remaining people are in a similar situation, but obviously, they did not have a true faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, or else they would have been taken, when the event occurred.’
.
His mind buzzed with questions, and among them, where to begin?  The new Whitehouse of the Confederacy had a sizeable back yard that was purposefully designed for privacy, having well manicured bushes and shrubs that blocked the view from the outside.  Tiny cameras had been placed at intervals around the property, and together they served like unto a natural two-way mirror, whereby one could see out but no one could see in, which provided just the kind of privacy he needed, at such a time as this.  While he and the soon to be First Lady had not as yet moved into this new Whitehouse, still it was decided that given the current circumstances, they’d make use of the facilities..
.
Howbeit, having arrived an hour before the scheduled ceremony, the President directed his aids not to disturb him; he then excused himself, and immediately headed for the enclosed back yard.  As he walked across the lawn and paced along the stone walkway winding between the beautiful flowerbeds, he began to weep openly, ‘How O Lord could I have missed the Rapture?  I’ve been a believer all of my adult life, and had even been raised in and around the Church, participating in so many Christian events!’  His mind turned to a verse of Scripture he had heard quoted and read, times without number, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”  {Revelaton 4:11}.
.
Then it came to him, he had believed in an intellectual way, but had formerly lacked a contrite heart in repentance!  Right then and there, the soon to be President of the Confederate States of America knelt at a nearby garden bench, which had been placed along the way.  For the first time in his life he knew the difference between parroting a prayer of repentance, and praying from a sincere and contrite heart; ‘O Lord, he prayed, I have believed always, but forgive me mine unbelief.’  However as the now humbled Henry Whiting stood to his feet, he found himself as it were in a totally different world, then that which existed before..
.
He found himself in some kind of mist; a mist that slowly began to dissipate, and as it did so he wasn’t sure where he was or what was happing to him.  But suddenly the understanding came to him that he was in a situation not unlike that of John the Revelator!  “… I looked, and, behold,
a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice I heard was as it were a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”  {Revelations 4:1}.  ’O God he thought, where am I and what is happening to me?’  He wasn’t sure whether this was a dream, a vision, his imagination working over time, or perhaps something else.

But finally the scene before him became clear, “And I saw a great white throne and him that sat upon it …” {Revelation 20:11}, so he now fell to his knees for fear of looking upon the Almighty God of all creation, and of the Son of the Living God.  “Stand upon thy feet, thou Son of the Confederacy, that I might tell thee of things that must come to pass!”  In obedience Henry Whiting stood erect, while finding himself in the midst of President Jefferson Davis, Generals Robert E. Lee as well as Thomas J. ‘Stonewall’ Jackson?  The Lord spoke to Henry Whiting once more, ‘Thou must call your people to repentance, least they stand the judgment, and are cast into the lake of fire!’
.
.
Henry looked from side to side for just a brief moment, at the honorable men standing to his right hand as well as to his left, and the Lord said, ‘These men have begun the work, it is for you to finish it.’  O Lord, said Henry, forgive me if I speak but this one time, but my people will not hear me for I am but a lowly politician, not worthy to stand in thy presence or among these honorable men.  The Lord God spoke to Henry Whiting yet again, ‘Tell them I have sent you unto them, they will believe you!’  ‘O Lord, I beg you forgive me but this one last time and allow me to speak, for I am not an eloquent speaker like unto so many of my predecessors, perhaps another is more worthy?’  Again the Lord God spoke, ‘Levi Ben-Zion my faithful servant will come to you, just as he did unto your fathers, he will instruct you in all thou must do and say!”

After the Rapture

“And it was given unto him to make war upon the saints, and to over come them; and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues and nations.”   And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world.” {Revelations 13:7-8}

My wife Janice was among those who had been taken in the Rapture, so I myself, George McCullum III remained behind to deal with life during seven years of the great tribulation period.  No effort had been made to communicate with President Henry Whiting or his wife Julia, our the new First Lady, but be that as it may, I tossed and turned all that night in an attempt to sleep, yet nothing resembling a peaceful rest was to be found.  After a few hours I got up and knelt beside the bed, and right then and there poured out my heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and no as if repeating a memorized prayer, but in sincerity.
.
Upon arising from prayer I knew I had been truly saved, and I also knew the difference!  Still I just couldn’t sleep, so at some unknown time in the middle of the night I packed up and left the motel, heading for Northwest Florida and home.  I drove and drove, my troubled mind filled with thoughts of how wrong I had been, and somehow the hours fled by, finally I managed to come to myself, but by this time it was the middle of the next day.  I was making my way around the Atlanta Beltway, Highway 285 to the east of the city, maneuvering around the wreck cars and trucks along the way.
.
I don’t recall when, but I managed to awaken from my daze just in the nick of time!  When as I approached the Highway 75 Interchange near Mountain View, not far from the Atlanta Airport, I came upon a large passenger ‘jet airliner’ that had crashed and burned, and was blocking the freeway.  The Georgia Highway Patrol in cooperation with the Atlanta Police was busy redirecting traffic, so by some happen-chance they didn’t notice that I had parked along the side of the Highway, and walked directly pass them toward the accident.   Still I walked slowly, carefully observing all the disasters along the way.
.
It was horrible so I only paused for a short while to take a look, still, I understood immediately what had likely taken place, the Pilot and Co-Pilot were no doubt taken in the Rapture, and the pilot-less aircraft simply spun out of control and crashed.  After returning to my car I followed the directions of the traffic cops and entered the off ramp, maneuvering through a number of back streets, until I found my way onto Highway 75 South.  It wasn’t many miles down the freeway when I spotted one of those posted rest areas, so I turn off the freeway and found a place to park.  I looked carefully around me as I turned off the engine; how quite and normal this place seemed to be!
.
I noticed there was a small wooded area adjacent to the park, so after making and use of the facilities, which included a much-needed cup of coffee, I decided to take a walk.  After moseying at a slow pace down a twisting and turning pathway I found a small clearing about 70 yards into the woods!  There I found a fallen tree, which made a convenient sitting place, so I stopped to rest myself and think!  ‘Show me O Lord, I pray, what am I to do now?  I no longer have Janice my wife and I am alone in this world, left behind to face the Tribulation and the Beast!  Lead me and guide me precious Lord Jesus!
.
I am confused O Lord, not knowing which way to turn, I only know that very soon, simply being a believer in you, our Lord and Savior, as well as in the Holy Scripture, will bring a likely death sentence.  Like so many others Lord, I somehow thought I believed, and now I am left to face the truth; forgive me O Lord, for having sinned against you, and for not truly believing, as I aught to have done.’  Suddenly my prayer was interrupted by the presence of a man who appeared to me to be much like I had always imagined an Old Testament Prophet might look; I stood to my feet as he approached.
.
The man seemed to have come out of nowhere, he approached and stood before me, looking directly into my eyes; ‘I am a Servant of the Most High God, the Almighty God.  When you were but a child, I knew you!’  I looked at the man more carefully then before, and somehow I was certain I knew who he was.  ‘Are you not Brian Augustus Tappan, I ask of him?’  Waiting for his response, I also knew instinctively he was of the Lord!  He paused, while looking directly into my eyes, then slowly he began to speak, ‘Brian August Tappan no longer exists; I am Levi Ben-Zion, of the tribes of Levi and Judah.
.
I am come unto you, just as I did unto your father, that the will of God might be fulfilled.’  Now I knew for sure, God had sent his answer in the form of this man, who seemed to have stepped, as it were, out of the very pages the ancient Scriptures.  He was certainly old, and 105 years or more would be a good estimate, his hair and beard was snow white, and he wore a long eggshell white garment like unto an ancient Prophet of God.  His head was covered with a Hebrew like covering, and upon his feet were a pair of sandals.  His mannerism and poise, the very way he spoke, told me he had been in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
.
Are you one of the 144,000 Chosen of God, I asked the man, a man who had just identified himself as Levi Ben-Zion?  That which I could not reveal to your father, I reveal to you now, “And I heard the number of them that were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”  {Revelation 7:4}.  He need say no more on the subject, this was indeed the Levi Ben-Zion, who had spearheaded the liberation movement in my father’s time!  I looked into his eyes, knowing he came to deliver a message from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, which would surely include an important mission.
.
And in that regard I fully intended to carryout that mission to the fullest extent possible, what ever it might include!  Levi Ben-Zion looked directly into my eyes once more saying, ‘upon your arrival home, you will receive a Cellular Phone call from one Simon Buford.  He will invite you to meet with a group of new Christians at a restaurant you have long frequented, the Western Corral.  Among their number will be his wife Allison, Richard Jackson and his wife Brenda, Curtis Lee and his wife Mary, Edmond Palmer and his wife Elle as well as James Kirby and his wife Tonia.  You will drop whatever you are doing and carryout what is told to you over the telephone!
.
You will be asked to lead this group in a campaign across the Confederacy, and the means has already been taken care of!  The people must be warned and in the strongest possible terms, the choice is true Salvation in Christ Jesus or else eternal damnation, those who refuse, will in due course of time, accept the mark of the Beast, after which salvation becomes impossible.  You have been given a precious few hours before the Beast is revealed, so begin at once and move quickly.  Your message must be bold and sharp, the time when the Gospel is preached in crowd pleasing tones is over, and the time for a decision is now!’
.
What about you, Levi Ben-Zion?  ‘I will visit President Henry Whiting, who is scheduled to address the nation this very day!  Levi, I have never been a Preacher of the Gospel, yet I desire to do the Lord’s bidding, but I am not sure I know where to begin.  Levi then walked closer to me and placed his hand upon my forehead saying, ‘God has this day imparted unto each of you those gifts, which are necessary in carrying out His will, fear not for He will be with all of you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, Amen;’ Levi looked into my eyes for a moment, then began to turn.

This man of God then stepped back a couple of feet, as I was about to speak once more to him, when he turned and walked away.  He began to fade from my view and disappeared, as he moved down the same beaten pathway, which had originally brought me to this location.  I stood for several moments staring in the same direction where I had just moments ago, last seen Levi Ben-Zion pass out of my sight.  I would eventually discover that we were not to meet again this side of Glory, but now I had the peace of mind I had so desperately sought, and an urgency to get about the Masters Business.
.
I returned to my car and headed home, my life changed in a glorious way, due to having experience true salvation, and a meeting with the very man that had lead the liberation of the Confederate States of America, a little over 40 years earlier.  Upon my arrival home I had barely looked about and unpacked, when I received the telephone call foretold by Levi Ben-Zion.  I quickly laid everything aside and headed for the Western Corral, with the enthusiastic anticipation of getting on with the mission.  The very next morning we each set out in a different direction, in route to a member the States of the Confederacy.
.
We knew we had but a short space of time, before the Beast of Revelation would be revealed, and when he would soon thereafter come to power.  The State, which was agreed upon for me to visit was none other then Tennessee, so I headed for Memphis, Chattanooga and then Nashville, preaching in various towns, both large and small, along the way.  Just how short the space of time space of time remaining to us was, we would all soon learn from the news!  Along the way I come to realize the extent to which we had been gifted of the Lord God, through the Holy Ghost, and in the name of Jesus.
.
Among these gifts was that now I could recall and relate Scripture as well as history, like unto having a photographic memory!  As I drove along the highway I realized just whom Levi Ben-Zion really is, and being along in the vehicle, I thought back upon all that had taken place.  Whereupon my heart and mind turned to {Revelation14:3-5}.  “And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders; and no man could learn that song but the hundred forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.  These were they, which were not defiled with women, for they are virgins.
.
These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.  These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb.  And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”  And again the verse that Levi himself had quoted to me, where it says, “And I heard the number of them that were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”  {Revelation 7:4}.  I knew the only way was to carefully and fully adhere to the will of the Almighty God, in Christ Jesus, the Holy Ghost and of the Holy Scriptures.
.
Then my attention was drawn to the many disasters along the way, the wrecked vehicles, trucks, buses, crashed airplanes, the buildings and structures damaged because of these events.  My mind turned to the mission at hand and I went down a mental checklist, making sure everything was made ready.  While we were all headed toward our appointed destinations, preparations were being made in Washington for President Whiting to address the nation.  I knew that before this event ever took place, the President would come face-to-face in a meeting with Levi Ben-Zion, and it appeared that the true purpose and cause of the Confederacy is even now unfolding.
.

           Salvation in Christ Alone
.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given,
whereby ye must be saved.” {Acts 4:12}.  There is no other Savior, no other Messiah, but Jesus Christ!
.
Meanwhile President Henry Whiting was in a meeting with several of his Cabinet Secretaries as well as House and Senate Leaders, concerning the issue of ‘how to secure the Confederacy during this critical hour.’  Among them were Secretary of State Benjamin Gordon, Secretary of War Clement Pike, Speaker of the House Edwin Powell and Senate Majority Leader Henry Colson.  Senator Colson had replaced Lawrence Sullivan, when he was taken in the Rapture of the Church!  As for me it was early afternoon of the second day since the event had taken place and I was still in a state of confusion, and might I add considerable despair.
.

It was no secret that ‘nearly’ all, if not indeed all of the remaining members of the Government, had since done some serious repenting to the Lord in prayer.  This was the time when those remaining behind, had to face the un-compromised truth!  The President was not hesitant in the least in opening up the meeting with prayer, that God would somehow show them the way, whereby the nation might live out the true meaning and purpose of its cause.  The President stood behind his desk with his Executive Secretary Wanda Stanford about ten feet away, and off to his right with his Cabinet Secretaries and other prominent leaders, scattered at a modest distance in front of the Presidents desk.
.

There was a low toned chatter about the room, until the President made a sound as if clearing his voice, more to gain their attention then anything else.  The room suddenly became exceedingly quiet as the President began to speak; every eye turned to him, waiting with anticipation as to what he would say, and equally as important, the manor in which he spoke.  ’Gentlemen, he said, I need not describe to anyone present here today, as to the seriousness of our situation!’  Then suddenly the meeting was interrupted, and everyone’s attention drawn to the appearance of man standing behind them, and just inside the office door.

  .

The man was robed like unto an Old Testament Prophet of God, and for a moment he stood looking in the direction of President Whiting, without uttering a sound.  No one had seen him enter, not even his Executive Secretary, who had always been quick to spot the comings and goings of everyone approaching the President.  President Whiting now moved from his previous position, to the center and front of the desk, facing this heretofore-unknown person, who had just entered his office.  ‘Who are you sir, ask the President, and why have you come, and might I add, how did you get in here?’

.
I am Levi Ben-Zion, a messenger from the Most High God; I have not come in mine own name, but in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  You have scheduled yourself to address the nation after this meeting is adjourned, you must speak in no uncertain terms and from the heart, that every citizen must repent and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior.  They must do so with a sincere and contrite heart, not merely uttering superficial words, which hold no meaning!
Our Lord Jesus Christ once spoke to Nicodemus saying, “… Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” {John 3:3}.  “God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” {John 4:24}.
.

The Attorney General Lewis Addison turned looked at the President then at Levi, ‘We have become a multi-faith nation, and while it is true our people have overwhelmingly professed Christianity, there are Jewish worshipers, Buddhists and Muslims among our numbers.’  Levi paused then spoke saying, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given, whereby ye must be saved.” {Acts 4:12}.  ‘There is no other Savior, no other Messiah, but Jesus Christ, those citizens who do not repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, their Messiah, and receive the truth, will believe the lies of the Beast, when he is very soon reveled.
.
The Armies of Russia, in league with those of the Muslims are at this very moment approaching Israel; have ye not read in the Scripture where this has been is foretold?’  “And I will turn thee back, and leave but a sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel.”  {Ezekiel 39:2}.  ‘Five out of every six of the combined Armies of Russia and the Arab Muslims will die upon the Mountains of Israel.  The crushing defeat of the Armies of Russia and their Allies will persuade the Muslims, as well as those nations under the rule of the Beast, to sign a seven-year treaty of peace with Israel.

.
This signing will officially begin the seven years of the Tribulation!’  At this point, the heretofore-silent Secretary of State Benjamin Gordon broke in!   Sir, forgive me my question, but what if these new Christians of the Tribulation in their shyness, should hold their peace?  ‘Should that happen, remarked Levi, the rocks would immediately cry out!’  ”For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God: Not of Works, least any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9).  ‘How many times have each of you born witness to this verse being quoted, or else read it for yourselves, and applied it without its true meaning!
.

Levi glanced at each and every members of the Presidents party then at President Whiting, standing alone Mr. President, Levi stated; these verses are incomplete in their message.  But together they present a much fuller understanding, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10).  Is not this last verse commonly left out of most discussions on salvation?  The principle here is that we must have a living testimony, a living faith, a 'holy lifestyle and mindset, brought about through the New Birth!’
.
What shall we say then, shall we not answer for ourselves at the Judgment Seat of Christ?   Would each of you not rather be able to say, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” {II Timothy 4:7}.  Levi Ben-Zion very slowly looked about at each one of those present, ‘do not hesitate but be about the Master’s Business, with haste.’  Then as he continued he began to fade, ‘Christ has called you to be a nation of ‘Ministers of the Gospel of Christ Jesus, for this purpose has this nation been preserved, liberated and restored.’  Jesus Christ commands you, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
.

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” {Matthew 24:19-20}.  By the time Levi Ben-Zion had finished speaking, he had completely disappeared from their presence, in like manner as he had first appeared unto them, leaving those present owe struck at what they had witnessed.  Christ had sent his messenger unto them, charging what they must do, and that they must act with haste!   The question then arose, was this not the man who led the Confederate Cause in the pre-liberation days, and was he not primarily responsible for rallying the numbers necessary in bringing about the liberation?
.
Yet afterward, when the inauguration of the Second President of the Confederate States was taking place, he simply walked through the crowd, and returned into obscurity from which he had came.  Now he has reappeared as an extremely old man, but more then this, he has taken on the persona, like unto an Old Testament Prophet of God.  However no one in the Presidential Office that day was about to challenge the credentials of this man of God, Levi Ben-Zion!  In the early days when the nation was under attack from a hostile and arrogant foreign nation, President Jefferson Davis called for a Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer.
.

Now in these days of crisis, President Henry Whiting decided it was a time for him to do the same!  But nothing could come close to describing the speech given by President Henry Whiting that very afternoon, which took place shortly after the visit by the Messenger from the Most High God.  Fortunately Confederate Citizens all across the nation took heed, bowed and confessed, and they did so with humble and contrite hearts!  But even as they prayed, the battle between the Russian and Muslim invaders against Israel had already been enjoined.  The odds was said to be thousands to one against Israel, as the heathen hordes approached the borders of this tiny nation!

                    The Beast Reveled
               .
“And I saw and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown
             was given unto him; and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”  {Revelations 4:2}
.
In Europe, Italy and other nations petitions were pouring into their governments demanding they take action!  The millions of missing, many of them having held key positions in industry, government, the military as well as financial institutions, contributed directly to the collapse of their currencies.  The economies of nations worldwide were in chaos, there were only three acceptations to the mass worldwide confusion, that being England, the smaller United States as well as the Confederate States, which had long since shifted their currencies to the Gold Standard, based upon a sound Confederate Dollar.
.
In the City of Richmond, the new President was seemingly working around the clock to hold the nation together!  The signs were everywhere, one only need look at the ongoing battle in the middle east, even now piling up bodies by the 100’s of thousands!  The result was that the invading Muslim and Russian Armies were forced to march over the bodies of their comrades, in their determination to invade Israel.  The Israelis were keenly aware that the hand of Almighty God was obviously involved, in their lopsided victory against such overwhelming odds.  This battle between a modern day Goliath and a small Davis, was about to bring on seven of the worst years in history.
.
In the City of Richmond, President Henry Whiting paced the floor, while praying openly!  The President turned to his Secretary of War Clement Pike standing just off to one side, who seemed almost in a daze.  ‘Clement, are the preparations nearing there completion; we don’t have a moment to spare?  When the Beast of Revelation is reveled, and he will be any day now, he will demand that all nations join his one world Global Empire!’  We are very near completion Mr. President, replied Secretary Pike!   We have contacted our Governors; they have in turn ordered their State Forces to stand at the ready!
.
Our Militia Commanders are even now calling in, and are preparing for the possibility of a full-scale military response.  They have formed a shield over the Confederacy, as well as a check system, designed to detect anyone who accepts the coming Mark of the Beast, when that process is instituted.  The men seemed to pause while looking about the room and at each other, wondering within them selves if everything that could be done, have been done.  At this point the President broke in, ‘Remember Clement, that according to Revelation 13:16-17, “… no man may buy or sell, save those that have the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
.
However, we can turn the tide and at the very least hold them off, inasmuch as within our three-nation alliance, we can cause that whomsoever has the mark, may not buy or sell.  The Secretary of War paced a wee bit; then turned to the President, ‘we are speaking here of surviving for seven years, until the return of our Lord in Glory, are we not?   Mr. President, we have audited our resources, in the event of a total blockage, should it come?  Just then Secretary of State, Benjamin Gordon entered the office, Mr. President, there are two critical items of news, and I thought it urgent to report them immediately!
.
’Go ahead Gordon, replied the President!’  The remaining Russian and Muslim forces, stated Secretary Gordon, have now begun their withdrawal, and just as indicated in the Scriptures, only 1/6th of them remain.  The entire region is nothing but a sea of death for the invaders of Israel, the Russians and Muslims will never again rise to power!  Also the European Union has just named Augustus Cicero as their leader, giving him total emergency powers; the United Nations, having moved to Brussels Belgium many years ago, has added to his power, by naming him Secretary General.
.
It is believed, Mr. President, he will soon announce his new title, that of Prime Minister of a One Global Nation!  This man Cicero has already called for a single world currency, as well as a peace treaty in the Middle East!  And, he has announced his plans for an immediate trip to Israel, in order to negotiate such a treaty!  President Whiting was just about to respond when the Ambassadors from the United States and Great Britain, escorted by the President’s own Executive Secretary, Wanda Stanford, entered the office.   Mr. President, you directed that upon their arrival, these gentlemen were to be granted immediate entry!
.
It didn’t take long for Prime Minister Cicero to forge a peace treaty in Israel, given the now defeated Muslims and their Russian Allies; since it was not difficult to persuade the Muslims to agree to the terms of the treaty.  Thus the signing signified the official beginning of a seven-year period as foretold in the Holy Scriptures.  Early on it became self evident that Augustus Cicero was indeed the Beast of Revelation, and he has proven as much by consolidating his grip on global power, over the weeks and months that followed.  After the treaty had been signed, was expected that plans to rebuild the Temple in Israel would proceed, and they did so!
.
Policies that the agents of the Beast referred to as merely an economic mark quickly paralleled the introduction of a global currency.  All these things it was said, was done for the sake of the economic stability, the peace and tranquility of the entire world, however the leaders of the Confederacy, knew precisely what it meant!  Back in Richmond President Henry Whiting called yet another emergency meeting of certain key personnel, which took place at the new Whitehouse.  In attendance were Secretary of State Benjamin Gordon, Secretary of War Clement Pike and the Commander of the General Staff, General Marshall Wallace.
.
Also included was Henry Talley, Chairman of the Confederate Governors Association!  After opening the meeting with prayer, President Whiting began the discussion, ‘Governor Talley, as Chairman of the C.G.A. are you prepared to report on the status of our preparedness?’  Yes indeed Mr. President, we are already seeing raw materials from the various nations being cut off, so we have instituted a variation of a Second World War policy, and have begun a system of neighborhood collections.  On the list are Junkyards, abandoned vehicles as well as structures no longer serving a useful purpose!
.
These have now become a valuable source of raw materials, and given that we are speaking of seven years, we should do well in this regard, during this period of time.  The President paced for a moment with a stern look on his face, then turned to the Commander of his General Staff, ‘General Wallace, what have you to add to the discussion?’  Mr. President, given the nature of our Confederacy, we cannot order the State and Militia Forces under my direct command, therefore a Joint Command Staff has been organized.  We have already reached a state where the process is beginning to work!
.
This new Command Staff is strictly voluntarily but is fully supported by the various Governors; in turn State Forces and Militia Commanders are doing likewise.  Haply everyone is cooperating in this effort!  Also we have created a reporting system whereby any person, civilian or military that accepts the Mark of the Beast, is to be reported to their local command.  The President paused in his pacing, while looking directly at his General, as he asked, ‘How has this worked in practice, General Wallace?’  Very well Mr. President, as you are aware, over the past generation the Militias have become a professional military organization.
.
And they are now the centerpieces of our local social functions!   Thus there Officers, Enlisted Men as well as their families, are personally well known, each in their own communities.  This is proving to be our strength and an excellent shield for the Confederacy, without altering our basic principles of individual liberty and State Sovereignty.  ‘Very well, replied President Whiting, very well indeed!’  Secretary of State Benjamin Gordon seeing the President pause, injected his own thoughts into the conversation!  Mr. President, the United States as well as England have followed the example of the Confederacy, with variations, and each of them, are only a few days behind us in their efforts.
.
‘I notice you used the title England, rather then the title United Kingdom’, responded the President.  Most certainly Mr. President, with the acceptation of the British Virgin Islands, the other British Commonwealths have submitted themselves to the Beast.  Thus for all practical purposes the former United Kingdom no longer exists!  The former U.S. Virgin Islands, as you know, has long since become a Commonwealth of the Confederacy, in like manner as their British counterparts, in remained loyal to England; these Islands are now serving as a critical military, communications and commercial outpost.
.
At this point Henry Talley, Chairman, Confederate Governors Association, injected his own remarks!  Mr. President, as I am certain you recall, our main mission as a people and nation, during this period of time, is the spread of the Gospel.  ‘Governor Talley, asked the President, what has been done to ensure this is carried out to the fullest extent?’  Mr. President, our t.v. and radio networks have formed what might be called ‘Radio Free World’ in an effort to spread the Gospel to every nation on earth, simultaneously.
.
‘Will not the agents of the Beast, block satellite broadcasts coming from the Confederacy’, asked the President?  They certain will and they have done so already, but many of our people have become, by God’s grace, the best Computer Geeks in the world, and have been able to thwart these attempts.  The Gospel is even now going forth!

            Column Before the Storm
   .

“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward

mouth do I hate.  {Proverbs 7:13}
..

After the meeting had adjourned and everyone departed save for Wanda Stanford the President’s Secretary, the First Lady Julia entered the office; sweetheart, she said, you look troubled, is there something you wish to tell me?  ‘Well honey, the President replied, perhaps I just feel like something is amiss, as if there is something about to happen, which I have not considered, and have therefore not made contingency plans for.’  The First Lady looked at her husband as if pausing for a moment to think; maybe dear you should go somewhere to clear your mind a wee bit, straighten things out in your head?
.

‘A good idea honey, I think I just might do just that, Julia!’  Where will you go, have you somewhere in mind, asked the First Lady?  ‘Yes, responded the President, the one place I haven’t been in quite a while, Hollywood Cemetery!’  It didn’t take but a couple of hours and President Henry Whiting found himself standing beside the grave of President Jefferson Davis, the First President of the Confederacy.  His driver a Mr. Nathan Tyler having walked around the automobile and opened the door for the President, as was not only his duty but also a courtesy to the President, glanced at President Whiting.
.
‘You have a question Nathan, asked the President?’  Yes sir, do you wish me to wait here, or shall I depart and return later!  The President looked at his watch, it was 11:06 A.M.; he then turned to Mr. Tyler, ‘its about lunch time, how about you meet me back here at 12:15, that should give me plenty of time?’  Taylor being an old navy man and still a member of the Confederate Navy Reserve saluted his Commander in Chief while saying, I.I. Sir!  Perhaps I might bring you something Mr. President?  ‘No thank you Nathan, replied the President, enjoy your lunch!’  Nathan then turned slowly, preparing to walk toward the limousine!

.

Thank you very much Sir; responded Nathan, I’ll see you in a short while!  As Mr. Nathan Tyler drove away, Henry Whiting now President of a nation caught in the middle of the Great Tribulation, looked heavenward for an answer.  At this particular moment he thought of himself more as just Henry Whiting, minus the title and the trapping of his office.  He walked about the area, as he prayed, ‘Precious Lord and Heavenly Master, he said, by your grace I’ve been able to keep this nation together, for lo these two and a half years into this tribulation period.  Lord I am taking these events one step at a time, praying always to be found doing your will for this nation, as well as myself.
.
Still Lord, here I am the 9th President of this Confederacy, and having been elected for my own term a year and a half ago, if I stay alive until your return in glory, I will be the last, howbeit if that be your wish, so be it.  My prayer is to do Thy will ‘O’ precious Lord Jesus, that this confederacy might be deliver into your hands as a nation, having fought a good fight, finished our course as well as having kept the faith.’  The President closed his prayer with an Amen, and then paced for a moment, walking about the area then, pausing and looking back at the monument to Jefferson Davis.
.
‘My friend, I sure could use your advise at this time in history!’  The President was surprised when a couple of long time friends from Texas approached, John and Wanda Dubois!   As they approached, both the President and John Dubois simultaneously reached out to shake each other’s hands, then as the President reached to shake hands with John’s lovely wife Wanda, just as John began to speak.  Mr. President, I met your driver Nathan Tyler at the Mom and Pop down the street, and he felt that since we are old friends it was all right to mention that you are here, so we thought to stop by for a visit.
.
John walked slowly toward the Davis monument, and then turned toward the Present.  He paused for a moment, as if considering how me might say what must be said!  ‘You have something on your mind John, replied President Whiting; from the expression on your face it doesn’t appear to be very good news.’  No sir, Mr. President, it is not!  ‘While we are here alone John, stated President Whiting, how about just calling me Henry, it just might make it easier on both of us!’  All right then Henry, replied John, so be it; as you well know I live within a stone’s throw of the Mexican border, and I speak fluent Spanish.
.
The two men turned and looked directly into each other eyes, both men pausing for a moment, not saying a word.  ‘Do continue John; you might as well be straightforward with it!’  Henry, I’ve listened to their broadcast and as you might well expect they believe us to be religious subversives, which is the Beast’s own description of Christians.  I suspected something was going on based upon the general tone of their broadcasts, so I slipped across the boarder, and listened to their local conversations, while hiding my identity.  I’ve visited Mexico many times over the years, I know how to mix with the crowd and make it appear like I am one of them!
.

‘Go ahead John, lets hear the rest, what did you discover in Mexico?’  Well Henry, you’ve no doubt heard of General Hernan Raymundo!   ‘Yes John, he is based in Mexico City!’  Then you must also know that he is an agent of the Prime Minister Augustus Cicero, and is even now marching an army north toward our border.  ‘Why would he go on the march, John, why not transport them in trucks, or else perhaps drop them in as Air Born, he has the means to do so?’  Well Henry, the only answer I can come up with is that he wants to arrive at our border, and cross into the Confederacy undetected.

.
‘Well John we just might have become complacent, given that we’ve just lived through, the column before the coming storm!  Give me numbers John, how many men does this General Raymundo have with him?’  About 14,000 but don’t under-estimate them Henry, these are Mexico’s elite force, the best of the best; they’ve been taking a backcountry route, and marching only at night.  Also, he already has the blood of thousands of his own countrymen on his hands, those who refused to take the mark.  ‘Then I must prepare immediately some type of strategy to stop him’, responded the President, as he turned and began pacing once more, this time at a speeded up pace.
.

No need to Henry, I’ve taken the liberty of informing Texas Governor Henry Colson, who has in turn issued orders to General Steven Yodel, the Commander of his Texas Forces.  ‘Do we have our own forces in position; sufficient to give General Raymundo a suitable reception, fired back the President!’  Well we have 2,000 on the way and another two divisions due to arrive soon after.  Henry, you know both Governor Colson as well as General Yodel, they are both more then capable!  Yes I do know these men quite well John, but I can’t help wonder if they will arrive soon enough to meet General Raymundo as he is crossing into our Confederacy.
.

               Battle of San Antonio
.
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments,
                             and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” {John 3:22}
.
President Henry Whiting arrived back at the new Whitehouse of the Confederacy, just as General Raymundo crossed the Rio Grand River and into the Confederacy.  It being the evening time and shortly after sunset, he decided to encamp at a location not far from San Antonio!  It was no doubt it was Raymundo’s strategy to liquidate local military resistance then set up his headquarters in San Antonio itself.  Thus he encamped his forces in an open space of land far enough from civilization so hopefully he would not be detected, yet close enough that he could enter the city on short notice.
.
.

General Raymundo was astonished that he had crossed over into the Confederacy, without having drawn attention to his army.  But where are the Confederates he thought, he had received reports that the Confederate Border was heavily guarded.  Could he have somehow surprised these ‘Religious Subversives’ so completely?  The Mexican General decided then and there, this was his opportunity to stage the scene of battle to his liking, afterward he would order up additional forces and split the Confederacy, thereby bringing these subversives under the rule of the world leader, Prime Minister Augustus Cicero.
.

It appeared to him that these Texans were as the Chinese use to say of the United States, that they are paper tigers, he could take the entire State of Texas within a couple of weeks, he thought.  Still, General Raymundo wondered, would he face any opposition, where indeed were these Confederates?  The Mexicans had finished setting up their encampment and posted Sentries for the night, when a Lieutenant along with a Private named Diaz Morino, entered the General’s Command Tent.  What have you, called out the General in a stern voice, who was known to sleep lightly when on the march?
.
General Sir, responded Lieutenant Martinis, the Private wishes to report on the status of the Confederates!  Let’s hear it, responded the General, in a slightly calmer but still gruff voice!  Private Morino stepped forward a few paces; General Raymundo sir, the Confederates are even now lined up on the far end of the field to the west of our position, just inside a stand of trees.  The General glanced at his Private then quickly responded, how many Private, give me some details, are they infantry or what?  There appears to be only a couple of dozen enemy troops, but sir, t-h-e-y, t-h-e-y are mounted on horseback!

.

What, Mounted Cavalry in the middle of the twenty first century, so we face a horse mounted cavalry; this is even better, we’ll wipe them out in an hour’s time then prepare to move on, leaving the for the vultures.  What are these Confederate Cavalrymen doing now Lieutenant, tell me that?  Well sir, they are standing in position just out of plain view, doing absolutely nothing but face off in our direction across an empty field, in my estimation, they are scouting the situation.  Also sir, responded Lieutenant Martinis, I counted 37 of them and the center mount, in the dim light of the moon, appears to be a Colonel.  There may be further back, but they are completely out of sight!

.

The General arose slowly from his bunk, looking directly at Lieutenant Martinis, then ordered; Lieutenant, muster our army into battle formation; it appears that while we have chosen the place, these Confederates have chosen the time.  We march within 20 minutes!  On the Confederate side of the field, the Texans had thus far mustered a Company’s worth out of an expected two Divisions, and here they were, about to face off with the pride of Mexico, General Hernan Raymundo’s elite force.  The General had always thought, the massing of troops across an open field, in a frontal attack, was history, but just about 40 minutes later, the two sides would face off.

.
In the City of San Antonio, I George McCullum III had wrapped up a Fellowship Prayer Super at Dominico Restaurant, with those that had been chosen of God to evangelize the Confederacy, shortly after the Rapture.  Simon Buford remained behind, so we spent the time speaking of our separate experiences, the splendid results of our ministry, and of the wonderful fellowship we shared along the way.  Our speaking was soon interrupted by the arrival of a gentleman who introduced himself as Mel Stanley!  He approached the table and began to speak in a low tone, excuse me gentlemen, but I have critical news, which might very soon involve every citizen.

.

Close to a full division of the Mexican Army has crossed the border, with additional troops expected within a days time, particularly if these first arrivals prove victorious.  I was told your name is Mr. McCullum, and that you are a member of the Militia from Florida, a Captain, is the information I was given; is that true sir?  By all means Mr. Stanley, have you a need of my services?  Call me Mel; while we are away from the military, and let me just say that you are invited to join us in a stand against General Raymundo’s Mexicans.   Do you have your uniform and equipment with you Captain McCullum?
.

Yes indeed Mel, I also have a Bowie Knife, which is my Arkansas Tooth Pick, a Magnum Pistol and approximately 50 loaded clips in the trunk of my car!  This may seem like an odd question Captain, but are you an experienced horseman?  Yes I am Mel, not a professional by any means, but good enough to have done reenactments prior to the Rapture.  Well, get your uniform and equipment together and come with me, perhaps we can make our stand against these Mexicans, just as we did those at the Alamo?  Yes, I responded, and as I recall, the survival rate at the Battle of the Alamo among Texans, was not very good!

.
Mel had a look in his eye that told me, the chances of our survival this time around wouldn’t be any better!  But be that as it may, we all got our uniforms together, including Simon Buford, a Sergeant Major from Oklahoma, who eagerly joined our numbers.   Not long after we found ourselves approaching the site of the battle from the north, after winding down an old dirt road with our car lights off, so as not to draw the attention of the Mexicans.  We approached an area behind our own lines, were a number of horse trailers had been parked, as were automobiles, pickup trucks and the like!
.

I spotted three saddled horses, tied off to a couple of trees, so I dug out my uniform, leatherwork, pistol, ammunition and my trusty ole Arkansas Toothpick.  Mel even dug up a somewhat old but well maintained Oozy Rifle with about a dozen 100 round clips, along with a special made, quick draw saddle mounted holster for the Oozy.  I decided to break out a flag that had proven very special to me, which was handed down from my grandfather George McCullum Senior, it being a blue flag with seven stars in a bow with a Christian Cross in the middle.  It would do nicely at the head of our quickly improved Texican Army!

.

Only a little over an hour before, Simon Buford and myself were at the Restaurant speaking of the Ministry and of the Fellowship we had shared, in Christ Jesus, and now, we were about to face off against 14,000 Mexican troops.  An Army, which had already proven itself the best Army on the Continent!  We mounted and rode out toward our own Army’s left flank, then made a full gallop parallel and straight down the front of our battle line, our Christian Confederate Flag standing tall against the wind.  Glancing at General Raymundo’s Mexicans, it was obvious they were eager and ready, but pausing only for the sake of studying us!
.

But even as I galloped haply along the line with Mel and Simon, I knew this would likely be a repeat of the Alamo, and we may well in the end, be buying time for Texicans to muster their forces.  Mel handed off the Christian Flag to a Private positioned to the right of the Confederate Battle Flag!  We all took our appropriate place based upon our rank and joined the others, as we looked across the field at our enemy, I prayed within myself, knowing I might very well be joining my lovely wife Janice in the realms of Glory, and I’d likely do so very soon now.  As I maneuvered my mount into position, I could help notice the Mexican across the field!
.

However my attention was soon drawn to the center of the line where our Commander, a Colonel Jacob Bradley had ordered an officers call, so I fell out of formation and headed toward the center of the line, which was only a few yards away.  As we met, the Colonel spoke directly and in no uncertain terms; ‘Gentlemen, the odds are against us, but we do have a few advantages, the Mexicans are obviously not completely ready, or else they would have made their move by now.  We can make use of the brilliant tactics of our forefathers of the War for Confederate Independence!

.
There were three of us Officers present, and Colonel Jacob Bradley had included Sergeant Major Simon Buford as the forth individual; the Colonel glanced at Sergeant Buford while ordering, pick five of your best horsemen, yourself being the sixth.  Choose men who would love to raise a little havoc!  Havoc, responded the Sergeant Major?  Yes Sergeant Major, I have not kept up with your preaching ministry, save for the glorious results, but I am aware that you are an admirer of the tactics of Major General J.E.B. Stuart, as well as Colonel John Singleton Mosby.  An out and out frontal attack will prove disastrous for us, so we shall fight in a similar manor, as would these brave and brilliant officers from our past history.
.

Three of your men will ride around Raymundo’s right flank and three at his left!  Cause total chaos in their encampment in the manor of Stuart and Mosby, burn and destroy everyone and everything in sight, and our Lord and Savior ride with you.  Remember, all of you, these Mexico are servants of the Beast of Revelations; their souls are lost forever, therefore they cannot be spared and salvation is now beyond their reach.  Looking at the Sergeant Major, the Colonel ordered, now go!  Looking at the two of us remaining, the Colonel remarked, we have three of us Officers, each of you take 25 men and strike at Raymundo’s left and right flanks.
.

Major Alfred Albright, you take the right, Captain McCullum, take the left; make a series of quick strikes and withdrawals, wear them down.  Get yourselves in position quickly; when you see the fires and hear the shots coming from the Mexicans encampment, this is your signal to strike.  Gentlemen, I am convinced that Raymundo expects a direct and all out frontal attack; we will use that to our advantage!  While the two of you are making hit and run strikes against his left and right I will hit the center of his line, intermittently using my a portion of my Cavalry, then when he has been softened up, I will then hit Raymundo with all of the 145 remaining.

.
Now, Captain McCullum, lead us in a short prayer before the action begins!  I glanced at Colonel Jacob Bradley and Major Alfred Albright, then quickly turned my attention heavenward; “Our precious Lord and Savior, we now go into battle against the enemies of both God and man.  Ride with us O Lord, so that we might prove victorious against our enemy!  Let them not survive this battle, that they may kill and destroy our fellow countrymen and these, the servants of you, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”  Everyone lifted their heads and said, Amen!’  We all had a few final remarks to one another, so as to coordinate the strategy just laid out by Colonel Bradley.
.

Then we all went to boots and saddles and prepared to ride, I noticed that Colonel Bradley truly looked the part of a leader, mounted as he was upon his favorite Golden Palomino, and so we each rode away to take up our positions.  All but approximately 37 of Colonel Bradley’s 145 remaining troops fell further back just inside the line of trees!   General Hernan Raymundo Army, position about 1500 yards across the open field, was very rapidly nearing a state of readiness for battle.  Major Alfred Albright, while not a war veteran was nonetheless in his element, having a Master’s Degree in history, and now he rode off with every intention of apply what he had learned from his studies.

.
And I Captain George McCullum III in like manor led my small contingent of men in a round about route, as we headed for Raymundo’s left flank.  However it wasn’t long until all three elements of Colonel Jacob Bradley’s Texican Army was in their jump off position, so we didn’t have but a short time to wait, for no sooner had I got into position myself when fire and shot rang out from the direction of the Mexican Encampment.  All three commanders, Colonel Bradley, Major Albright and myself Captain McCullum III, knew this was our signal to go into action.  At the same time Colonel Bradley had positioned his 145 man Cavalry into three squads, with his own in the center.
.
Just as he finished organizing the two Privates rode forward toward the center of the line and positioned themselves on either side of the Colonel, these were the flag bearers of the Christian Flag as well as the Battle Flag.  Colonel Bradley turned to each of his flag bearers saying; ‘Since we may possibly die under these two flags, how about we make it crystal clear to our unwelcome guests that we are Christian Confederates.  As such we owe no allegiance whatsoever to Prime Minister
Augustus Cicero, and we will never take his mark.  Even as he was speaking new infantry arrivals numbering 115 of 350 infantrymen moved out of the woods and took up positions on Colonel Bradley’s right and left.
.

The Colonel smiled, having only a few words to say in response; ‘I don’t know where they came from, but the Almighty God does have a way of answering prayer.  And it was also noted; this added infantry wore historic uniforms, and not the new 21st century version!  Once the shot and fire was heard and een coming from the Mexican Encampment, Colonel Bradley raised his left hand skyward, giving the signal to charge.  At first the center squad of Bradley’s now 445 man Cavalry and Infantry moved forward slowly, then about half the way across the battlefield the pace was quickened to a full battle charge, as the three squads alternated in a series of hit and run raids.

.
Finally as each squad had finished their own hit and run raid, all 145 Cavalrymen as well as the 350 man Infantry joined into a single battle line!  The infantry surprised even the Colonel as a true Rebel Yell was heard, which seemed to roll across the field in the highest possible decimals toward General Hernan Raymundo lines.   It had been 193 years since that particular sound was heard on any battlefield!  The Mexican were by now in a state of total shock and confusion, being attacked from behind, on both flanks as well as in a revolving frontal attack.  General Raymundo’s troops in their confused state, saw what seemed like tens of thousands of Confederate troops charging at them!
.

God in his grace and mercy had multiplied Colonel Bradley’s now meager 1,000 into tens of thousands in the mind of the Mexican invaders!  And as equally amazing was that most of Albrights Cavalrymen bore swords, besides their pistols and many of his infantry bore 19th century repeating rifles with bayonets adopted to them; some even bore muskets.  As they approached Raymundo’s now diminished lines, the swords in the hands of the Confederates, became like unto the very Swords of God Himself, as did the bayonets in the hands of Infantrymen.  As the Confederate’s charged directly into the enemy ranks, their outdated arms overcoming all of Raymundo’s modern hand held weaponry.

.

Bradley’s Infantry, with their bayonets and bowie knives at the ready, cut and slashed their way into the enemy ranks like unto a scythe through a wheat field.  As a result of God’s Grace, the effects of each and every Confederate was multiplied by many times their true number!  It was as if the lightening and the thunder were in their blows, and all this took place in a sparsely populated area, down a seldom-traversed dirt road, in a place called nowhere, in the State of Texas.  Never had there been such an army of warriors, an army who fought as did Colonel Jacob Bradley’s Texicans, on that day!
.

There was one word that did not arise that day on either side, and that word was ‘surrender; as a result there were only a hand full of survivors on the Mexican side.  This small quickly assembled Texican Confederate Army, lost 223 out of 1,000 who charged into battle, among the casualties was my old friend Sergeant Major Simon Buford, who now as a result, has went on to his final and blessed reward.  The battle hadn’t been over for more then a couple of hours, when Texas Governor Henry Colson and General Steven Yodel his Chief of Staff approached.  As they did so, I saluted and responded, ‘Governor Colson, General Yodel sirs!
.

The Governor spoke first, ‘you are Captain George McCullum of Florida?’  Indeed I am sir, came my response!  General Yodel then broke into the conversation, ‘The Medics have reported 223 Confederate casualties, are any of your officers among the survivors?’  I glanced at both men then replied, ‘No sirs, none of our Officers or Non-Coms survived; as for Enlisted Men, a Corporal is our highest ranking survivor.  Looking in several directions I could see large number of troops arriving, the convoy must have stretched back for miles.  Governor Colson saw my glances, ‘General, these men have bought you time with their lives and blood, whereby you might organize and transport your army.
.

We buried our honored dead and eventually turned that very battlefield into a Memorial Park in their memory!  General Steven Yodel’s Troops, who relieved us after the battle, handled preparations for the burial of the Mexican troops.  It took a couple of weeks, so it was later reported, howbeit eventually the Mexicans were returned to their homeland for burial, among them was General Hernan Raymundo.  The story of the Battle of the Alamo and the 13-day siege comes to mind, wherein 182 died, including James Bowie and William B. Travis.  But heretofore it has been merely a story, whose meaning has been lost with passing time, but now, it has become a living part of our lives!.

                    The Conclusion
.
“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name sake: but he that
                             endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”  {Mark 13:13}
.
As for me, I was among those chosen to make a report to President Henry Whiting, the Leadership of the Confederate House and Senate, as well as an assembly of the entire Presidential Cabinet.  The look on their faces told me they well understood, there was no possible way in which 1,000 hastily assembled Confederate Troops, could have defeat 14,000 of the Mexican Army’s most elite, accept the Almighty God Himself was present on the battlefield.  While my battle wounds were minor, besides the 223 confederate casualties suffered that day, there were 417 wounded among our numbers.

The President and the
Secretary of War Clement Pike, along with Henry Colson, the Governor of Texas toured the area of the Battlefield approximately three month later, a battlefield now heavily defended.  Because of my being a Commissioned Captain, and so directly involved as a member of this tiny Armies General Staff at the time, I was invited to join the dignitaries as they toured the field of battle.  As we walked along I was ask to point out what happened here or over there, and I did so to the best of my ability.  ‘What was in your mind, as you and your men fought your way through so many of the enemy, asked Secretary Pike, where you aware of so many casualties being inflected upon the Raymundo’s Forces?

I looked at the Secretary Pike and replied, ‘In Florida we have an old saying, “When you are up to your ears in Alligators, you soon forget that you came to Florida to protect the ecology of the swamp.”  President Whiting, Pike and Carlson all looked at me then laughed heartily, and probably for the first time during this entire affair.  Secretary Pike then turned serious, which showed by the expression on his face; ‘Still Captain McCullum, 1,000 Confederates facing off against 14,000 of Prime Minister August Cicero’s Mexicans, the best of the best.  Even against such colossal odds, there were only six, which survived among Raymundo’s Army and he was not among them.
.
Even these few survivors were captured while attempting to flee the area!  When considering that most of your weapons were from the 19th and 20th centuries, this only increased the magnitude of the miracle.  Your Mounted Cavalry Captain McCullum, save for a few, initially used sorely outdated pistols, but for the most part you attacked an enemy 14 times your number, using swords.  This entire battle from the Confederate’s point of view was straight out of the War for Confederate Independence, was it not?  I looked at President Whiting, Secretary of War Pike, then Governor Colson and replied; ‘I cannot account for such a lopsided victory in human terms, since from such a viewpoint, we should have all been lying out there on that field dead, as were 223 of our fellow soldiers.
.
I can only relate it to how Samson in the Holy Scriptures slew an entire Philistine Army with a jawbone, and in our case we were on that day, by the grace of God, like unto 1,000 Sampson’s.  Thus the victory was not ours, but the credit as well as the glory belongs to the Almighty God alone!’  I had luncheon that evening with Secretary of War Clement Pike, Governor Henry Colson and President Henry Whiting, after which we all parted company.  The two men returned to Richmond and Governor Colson to Austin, but I remained until the next day so as to spend a little time alone, so as to turn over in my mind all that had taken place.
.
That next morning I chose to tour the field early, it was barely sunrise, but this was the time when the stillness brought back memories of a day when good and evil clashed right here on this now hollowed field.  Those of us who stood arm and arm together and charged directly into the jaws of death are henceforth brothers in arms forever, but more then this I knew, this was only one skirmish in a long war.  We are now three years into the Great Tribulation, and rapidly approaching the 42nd month, when everything will change dramatically.  Prime Minister Augustus Cicero will show the other side of his face, and God will pour out his wrath, ending in the Battle of Armageddon.
.
As for the next 48 months remaining, well, the outcome has already been determined long ages before the creation of this world.  As I walked along the pathway of the battle, I could see in my minds eye, all that had taken place on this very field.  I paused and look heavenward and said in a prayer; “Thou art worthy O Lord to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”  {Revelations 4:11}

Rapture - "A snatching away; The State of being transported!   The act of transferring a person from one place to another."   The word rapture does not appear in the Holy Scripture, but is a word commonly used to express a coming event, which is indeed taught in the holy text.   The scripture speaks clearly on the subject, and provides ample evidence; the rapture will take place at the beginning of the seven-year period known as the great tribulation.  A subject, which will be studied in another article!
.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words."  (I Thessalonians 4:16-18).

"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Watch therefore: for ye know what hour your Lord Doeth come."  (Matthew 24:38-42).
.

We are warned "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh."  It would behoove us to literally carryout that injunction!  We therefore should pray always that we might be found worthy to stand before the Son of Man.  In that moment after the rapture, it will become crystal clear, as to who is and is not a Christian, and the theological debate will have ended.  Let each of us be certain, when that day shall have come, we are among the missing.
