Welcome Ladies

The title Confederate Belles has been crafted so that we might include not only our Southern Belles but also all women who have adopted our history, heritage, culture and nation as their own.  The term Southern or Southerner is a term which when used properly refers to our unique culture, but is often used to indicate someone born within the borders of any of the ‘Southern States.’  While on the other hand the term ‘Confederate’ relates to our nationality; therefore anyone who adopts all things Confederate and Southern as their own, including our nation, the Confederate States of America is therefore a Confederate.  The topic of this web page titled the ‘Confederate Belles’ is a dedication and an urging that our ladies create what has previously been termed an organization of ‘Confederate Belles.’

Before getting very deeply into the topic of creating such an organization let me ask our ladies a question; a question each should answer on a personal basis.  If you discovered that by dressing as a Southern Belle on certain occasions for political reasons would lead to an independent Confederacy; would you be willing to do so for the sake of the Confederate Cause?  Before considering an answer it should be realized that our modern women are basically opposed to the traditional dress of women for a number of reasons.

If we are to liberate the Confederate States of America we must begin by facing the truth, and it is true today’s women dress in the fashion of unisex.  Basically this means wearing clothing pretty much like unto the men.  Women are certainly free to wear whatever they wish but victory doesn’t come to those unwilling to sacrifice for the cause.  The Confederate Cause is quite literally involved in a political cultural war where the choice is victory or extinction as a separate and distinct people.

Our modern dress standards have never been a matter of personal choice, contrary to popular belief, but are a decision made by a few corporate leaders in order to sell their wears.  These corporations spend multi-millions of dollars in order to convince everyone that women look better in Levis.  The other determining factor is popular opinion; everyone wants to dress like everyone else.  If a given female were to find herself in a society where all the ladies wear dresses; this particular woman would happily change her style of dress.

The purpose in bringing up this subject is for a single purpose; the Confederate Cause must be victorious.  Otherwise this author could care less what women wear as long as they wear something suitable in public.  There is no effect here to duplicate the wearing of strictly historic Southern Belle garments; the effort should be to look like an historic Southern Belle.  We have modern methods to make a women look like a Southern Belle without wearing a hoop frame under her dress, while at the same time achieving the same belle appearance.

Observe the women included in the picture on this page and imagine a hundred women dressed in this fashion attending a local School Board meeting or filing into a Senator or Congressmen office in behalf our the Confederate Cause.  Now let us reverse the situation and these same 100 women file into a Senator or Congressmen’s office wearing Levis.  If you ladies can’t see the difference, then you are blind to what was once termed a ‘women’s intuition’ and how women can influence a bunch of ‘ole codgers’ into doing what they should do anyhow without being unduly persuaded.

Does this mean I am suggesting that our Confederate Belles dress like Southern Belles all the time; the answer is definitely not, but it is hoped our ladies will use this just, moral and righteous weapons which is readily available to them.  The idea behind asking women to dress like a Southern Belle and using that particular persona, as a weapon in our favor is simply a good tactic and should be commonly understood.  In persuading a politician to support our cause, publicity is a critical part of achieving victory.  Can anyone seriously doubt that a sizeable number of Confederate Women dressed as Southern Belles parading through a Statehouse or the U.S. Capital would attract enormous attention or could it be that today’s women aren’t brave enough to get involved in this manner. Is it possible today’s women are too accustomed to looking like ‘one of the guys’ and no longer know how to be feminine?  Preferring to outside on the sidewalk achieving little effect on the course of history!  Come on ladies the Confederate Cause needs your help, not as combat soldiers or women’s liberationist, these thing you already have, but as political cultural ‘Confederate Belle Warriors’ for the cause.  There are many ways to fight an enemy; the greatest contributions in time of war have always been by our women who in past times never surrendered their appearance as fine ladies, rather used their femininity as an advantage for the Cause.
